My mother always longed to have a vegetable garden. For Mother's Day in 2020, with my dad and brother's help, we built a smart terrace garden to help her release stress during the pandemic and supply organic vegetables for our family. The best location for a garden with the full sun was on the slope, so we decided to build terraced garden beds. However, because our family loves to travel, we wouldn't be able to water the garden on a daily basis. To solve this problem we built a smart watering system. We used the Rachio sprinkler controller system, which gives us the ability to program multiple zones for the vegetable garden. The Rachio app provided the flexibility to use weather data to automatically control the watering cycle. This feature prevents overwatering of plants on rainy days. Our family expesiouly my mom loves the garden!
